This is a very pretty English cup and saucer set by Johnson Brothers. The pattern of blue roses with green leaves is known as Riviera and it's in the Regency shape, with its delicate swirls and silver-trimmed edges.
The cup and saucer are in good condition, showing some minimal signs of age and wear. The pattern is very pretty against the delicate swirled shape of both pieces.
The cup measures 3-3/8 inches in diameter and is 2-5/8 inches tall. The saucer measures 6 inches in diameter.
There is a little bit of wear to the silver trim on the saucer. There is also a bit of wear to the design on the saucer, mostly along the ribs of the beautiful swirl design. There is a little bit of staining in the saucer, not uncommon for something that is used to contain beverage spills.
The mark on the bottom of the saucer shows the maker to be Johnson Brothers and the place of manufacture to be England.
The mark on the cup is engraved only with "Made in England" along with a small painted loop.
This piece would be a lovely part of any teacup and saucer collection or as part of a larger set of English china.
